Looking into Data Center Storage Protocols mysteries
Should you use FC, FCoE or iSCSI when deploying new gear in your existing data center? What about Greenfield deployments? What are the decision criteria? Should you just skip iSCSI and use NFS if you’re focusing on server virtualization with VMware? Does it still make sense to build separate iSCSI network? Are jumbo frames useful? We’ll try to answer all these questions and a few more in the first Data Center Virtual Symposium sponsored by Cisco Systems.
The crew Omar gathered for this event is fantastic – you know Stephen Foskett is very passionate about storage, there will be mr. FCoE (J Metz) and mr. Thanks-but-no-thanks (Greg Ferro) sitting in the same room … and I’ll do my best “to be a bit Ivan” about the details.
The virtual symposium will be run in a live WebEx session (read Omar’s post for details) that you can join without any preregistration hassle – you remember to be there @ 9 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, March 27th. You’ll be able to ask as many questions as you like and we’ll do our best to answer them.
We would also like to pre-gather a few questions from the audience to get us started in the right direction. If there’s something you always wanted to ask about the data center storage protocols, please write a comment.
Have fun Ivan and I look forward to listening to it.
